Sonya grew up in Mount Pleasant and moved to West Batesville 12 years ago.  She has taught school in Independence County for 22 years.  She has worked for over 15 years for the Batesville School District, where she currently serve as assistant principal at West Magnet.  She attends West Baptist Church. Has also been a "Big" for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, an ICYAA volunteer, and managed the city pools for two summers.

She truly enjoys living and working here.  Through her work, She has come in contact with many families and residents of our community.  She is eager to work with the Mayor and City Council members to grow and improve our city.
