Batesville City Council
Batesville is governed by a Mayor and eight City Council members, each representing a Ward. The Mayor serves a four-year term and Council serve two-year terms. The Mayor and Council oversee city departments which are managed by Supervisors who are appointed by the Mayor.

Tommy Bryant, Alderman, Ward #1, Position #1 3110 Shade Tree Drive Batesville, AR 72501 (870)698-2042 Tommy Bryant is a lifelong Batesville resident and a 1970 Batesville High School Graduate. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Business from Arkansas College (now Lyon College) and serves on the president’s Council. He has served on the Batesville Planning Commission since 2005. Tommy is a past president and current board member of the Ozark Woodland Owners Association, Inc. and while in the building materials business served on the board of directors of the Arkansas Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association, the Mid-America Lumbermen’s Association and the National Lumber and Building Materials Association. He has held an Arkansas Real Estate License since 1976 and is the principal broker/owner of Bryant Real Estate.

Margarett Henley, Alderman, Ward #1, Position #2 Margarett Henley is a lifelong resident of Independence County and a resident of Batesville since 1956. She graduated from Floral High School and holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Arkansas College (now Lyon College). Margarett taught High School Biology and Human Anatomy and Physiology at Batesville Shigh School for 38 years, retiring in 2002. She is married to the late Wayne Henley and they have 3 children, Bridget, Scott and Wade. They have been blessed with 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and one great grandchild.

David Shetron, Alderman, Ward #2, Position #1 570 E. Boswell Street Batesville, AR 72501 (870) 793-6061 David Shetron was born and raised in Batesville. David is a graduate of Batesville High School and the University of Arkansas with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. He employed by the Batesville Division of Atlas Asphalt. David and his wife Sarah have three year old twin sons, John and Michael. |

Douglas Matthews, Alderman Ward #2, Position #2 P.O. Box 2216 Batesville, AR (870) 793-3249 Dr. Douglas M. Matthews is a life long resident of Batesville. He graduated from Batesville High School, University of Arkansas, and University of Tennessee Dental School. Dr. Matthews started his dental practice with his father in 1976. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Batesville Kiwanis Club, and the First United Methodist Church. Dr. Matthews served on the Batesville Planning Commission until he was elected to the Batesville City Council in 2005.

Fred Krug, Alderman Ward #3, Position #1 231 E. Charles Street Batesville, AR 72501 (870) 793-4271 Fred and his wife Carole have been married for 39 years. They have a daughter, Angie Gay, grandson Tyler Gay and a son Brian. Fred and his family moved to Batesville in 1980. He transferred here with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He managed the local Goodyear store for 4 years. He started his own tire business in 1984, Krug Tire Service, Inc. He owned and operated his tire business for 16 years before it was sold. Fred is a Vietnam Veteran and is currently manager of Sleep Star Lite Furniture Company. Fred also serves on the Executive Board of the Lyon College Booster Club. |

Richard O'Neal, Alderman Ward #3, Position #2 100 Gaston Dr. Batesville, AR 72501 (870) 793-5651 I am a life long resident of Batesville and I graduated from Batesville High School in 1980. I have worked for the Batesville School District for the past 28 years, 15 years as Coordinator of Physical Plant. I am a licensed HVAC and Electrical Contractor. My wife Karen and I have been married for 26 years and we have one son Clayton who graduated from Lyon College in 2008 and his wife Sarah will graduate from Lyon College in the spring of 2009.

Davy Insell, Alderman Ward #4, Position #1 Davy was born in Tulsa, OK and raise in Batesville. A 1994 graduate of Batesville High School, he is married to Misty Wilkes. Davy owns and operates Charlie's Menswear and Charlie's Angels in historic Downtown Batesville. Davy is a member of Believer's Community Church. |

Matt McDonald, Alderman Ward #4, Position #2 3195 Debra Street Batesville, AR 72501 (870) 698-1250 Matt is a life long resident of Batesville. He graduated from Batesville High School in 1995. He then graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1999 with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business. Shortly after, he and his wife, Carmen, were fortunate enough to move back to Batesville to start their family. They have two sons, Rhet and Grant. They are memebers of the First United Methodist Church. Matt is employed by Townsends of Arkansas as a Field Service Technician. |
